Jenna at Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas National Monument (Florida Keys).

You gotta go places.

It opens up your mind and is an unparalleled education.

Knowing where a few other things in the world are gives you a much better sense of where you are.

I don't really like much of Florida, but being way out in the Keys is cool.

Travel is the key to the best geography / anthropology lesson available.

It can be cheap, too.

Maps are a very important part of traveling.  If you live and explore in Maine and don't have "The Maine Atlas and Gazetteer" by Delorme, I'm very sorry.  For a fun and easy source of free, relatively accurate maps, Mapquest is tough to beat.

Now, it wouldn't be fair if I didn't include a little travel help-  when I want to go somewhere (and I can't drive), these are the places I will check:

Travelocity
Southwest
SideStep
Onetravel
Priceline
Orbitz
Expedia

Happy Trails!
